Today we would like to give you a few useful tips on how you can fundamentally increase the security of your video systems.

Physical security

  • Tamper-proof installation of the systems
  • Securing the systems against unauthorised access

Network security

  • Activate TLS encrypted transmission (DAVIDs, https) and thus encrypt the transmission between recorder, cameras and clients
  • 802.1x port authentication based on certificates
  • Close unused ports in the system firewall and deactivate insecure transmission channels
  • Use ViProxy and physically separate the access network from the camera network
  • Separate the video network either physically or by creating isolated vlans

Password security and access control

  • Use complex passwords, with a combination of letters, numbers and special characters
  • Login using the 4-eyes principle
  • Change your access data regularly
  • Restrict access to authorised users only

Firmware + software updates

  • Always keep the firmware of cameras and recorders up to date and benefit from new features and security patches
  • Keep your Windows installation and the management clients up to date

Data protection

  • Use the functions of the systems to limit the recording duration in a meaningful way
  • Pixelation based on AI object classification
  • Drawing private zones on cameras

The secure configuration of Dallmeier cameras, recorders and at least the management client is an essential part of an effective video surveillance solution. By implementing the above best practices, you can protect your system from cyber threats and ensure the security of your data.
